Omakase Burger @ The Grandstand

Made an impromptu trip to The Grandstand on a Friday night with hubby after work.

Hubby ordered their Mexican Coke ($4.50).  What is Mexican Coke?  You can find out more here:
The Ice Lemon Tea ($3.90) was just the canned Pokka drink.  Should have ordered their freshly squeezed orange juice instead.

My order - Omakase Burger ($13.90) and Truffle Fries ($6.90).
I was surprised that the burger seemed a bit small for the price.

However, the burger didn't disappoint.  Very juicy meat patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato and their secret Omakase Sauce.  This was indeed one of the better burgers which I had tried and many people claimed that Omakase Burger sells the best burgers in Singapore!

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!! - Mooncakes from Park Palace (Park Hotel Group) 2013

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to everyone in advance!!!   Oh well, maybe today I shall wish everyone Happy Chinese Valentines' Day instead but let me show you some sweet treats (Mooncakes!!) from Park Palace from the Park Hotel Group.  It is never too early to eat these great yummilicious mooncakes right?  :P
Packaging for Park Palace's Mooncakes - Let's uncover the treasures in the gold pearlescent mooncake boxes with lovely, red peonies and butterflies.
For the baked selections, they have the classic baked mooncakes with white lotus seed paste.  If you want to indulge in a healthier option, you may want to try the White Lotus Seed Paste with Macadamia Nuts which come in reduced sugar content.  New to the selection is the Golden Jade with Duo Nuts (Vegetarian), which is a medley of lotus paste infused with pandan and mixed with melon and pine seeds.
Look at the kaleidoscope of colourful mini snowskin mooncakes!  It was simply a treat to the eyes!  I was so excited when I saw this box of mooncakes and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into them!  I posted a photo collage of the mooncakes on my instagram last night and it invited quite a bit of curiosity as well, especially the pink ones.

Black Sesame & White Lotus Paste with Mochi in Snowskin  (New)
On top of the mysterious black looking mooncakes are sprinkles of gold dust.  The fillings are white lotus paste with chewy mochi.

Sakura Truffle with White Lotus Paste in Snowskin (New)
Lychee & Lychee in Snowskin (Signature, back by Popular Demand)
Baileys Truffles & Mint in Snowskin (Back by Popular Demand)
I had just tried the pretty pink mooncakes and I love the sweet fragrance of their premium luscious white lotus paste used.  The texture of the mooncakes were soft and the white chocolate truffle added to a slight crunch to the bite.  The sweetness of the mooncakes was just right for me.

Au Chocolat @ Marina Bay Sands

This was my first time here at Au Chocolat.  Heard my friends raving about this place and finally, I got the chance to try out this place with them.  :)

We were excited when we saw this promotion of the foie gras.
 The bistro...
We were seated at this section.  Most of the tables here were small.
The menu was quite extensive.
Hubby helped my friend to buy a Loewe bag from Spain and I finally passed her this beloved bag during this meet-up.
I had the mango magic, a concoction of white chocolates and mango puree.
Mango Magic and Banana Boost  ($12 per glass)
2 of my friends ordered the Taiwanese Lychee Beer and both of them were very happy with the beer as they said it was really refreshing and nice.
 Au Chocolat Hot Fudge ($10)
 Sweet Potatos Fries
 Mushroom Bites
Foie gras at $5 per plate.  Guess how many plates of foie gras did we order?
 5!!!
2 of my friends had the California Smoked Salmon Sandwich ($20) and I saw thick slices of avocado in it.
My friends who had been here before, all claimed that the Beef Bourguignon ($26) was one of the best entrees here but I decided to try something different.
This was my order - Handmade Pacific Crabcake!  ($32)
Look at the huge chunks of crab meat inside!  It was also served with some salads at the side to balance up the meal.  I was happy with my order.
We had wanted to order their waffles as there was a "50% off the 2nd waffles" promotion every Wednesday.  However, to our disappointment, the waffles were not served at Au Chocolat bistro!  We were told that the waffles were only served at Au Chocolat Confiserie which is located just next to the bistro.  Thus, we decided to only the Kalamansi Meringue Tart ($9) and a Brownie ($5) to share amongst us instead in order to enjoy the comfortable seats at the bistro.  The seats at the confiserie side are mostly high seats and we couldn't find a table big enough to accomodate 7 pax.
I love the tart but the crust was as hard as rock.  No joke!  Haha... Took me quite a lot of effort to break the crust!  But overall, the taste of the sweet egg whites (meringue) went well with the tangy and sourish kalamansi curd.
Cookies and Cream Brownie ($5)
Why my friend (on the extreme right) looked so sad?  Haha.... First, she was disappointed that the waffles could not be served at the bistro.  Secondly, the staff told us that the "OO" plush toy was out of stock and if she wanted another one for $10, she could take only the one on display.

However, after dinner, we walked over the Au Chocolat merchandise section, we saw lots of "OO" plush toys!  We were puzzled why the bistro and the other sections of Au Chocolat have to work independently even they are all under the same name.
This plush toy is sold at the merchandise section at $15 each.
 OO
 Yu Fa
We also enquired about the membership application but it seemed that they had stopped the scheme for the time being.  I would still love go to Au Chocolat to try the other savouries and dessert!

LICK - Little Ice-Cream Kafe @ Tanjong Katong Road

Had a mini gathering with my secondary classmates at LICK which stands for Little Ice-Cream Kafe.

It was a small shop with a few different styles of furnitures.
They have more than 30 varieties of home-made ice-cream.
I spotted a "Kaya Toast" Ice-Cream but was not daring enough to try.  I just went for the safer choices such as Lychee and Mao Shan Wang!
 Lychee and Mao Shan Wang
We all love these two flavours, lychee was so refreshing and the sweetness was just right.  Mao Shan Wang was superb.
 Coffee and Avocado
These two scoops pales in comparison to the above.  To be fair, it was probably because I had the stronger flavoured Mao Shan Wang before eating the avocado ice-cream so I couldn't really taste the avocado flavour.
The waffle was very tasty!  Fluffy with a slight crisp.  Would love to come back here again to try out other flavours.... maybe kaya toast?  or lavendar?
